Plain version: what you write on the application and the intake is used to prepare for and deliver your session. Your information is not sold, used for unrelated advertising, or disclosed to unrelated third parties. It is processed only by Colt and the service providers required to operate the website and deliver the service, subject to the exceptions explained below. You can ask to have it deleted at any time.

Who runs this site

Marriage Crisis Plan is operated by Colt Waagner. You can reach him at colt@marriagecrisisplan.com about anything on this page.

What is collected

  • What you type into the application: your first name, email address, optional phone number, age range, whether you're living with your wife, a description of your situation, what your wife has said, what you've been doing in response, your most urgent question, whether children are involved and their ages, your answers about your own conduct and about the fee, your availability, and how you found the site.
  • Your answer to the immediate-risk question. If you answer Yes, the application is never sent at all — the page shows you crisis resources instead and nothing you typed leaves your device.
  • What you provide later, if you are accepted and choose to go ahead: a fuller intake, and whatever you say during the session.
  • Whether you ticked the optional email box. That is a separate choice from applying, and it is recorded separately.
  • Ordinary web-server logs kept by the hosting provider, which may include IP addresses and browser information.

What is deliberately not collected

The application does not ask for your marriage history, your wife's contact details or health information, screenshots of her messages, financial account details, sexual history, or identifying information about any other person. Please don't send those.

Your application answers are never written into browser storage on your device, never placed into web addresses, and never sent to any analytics service.

What it is used for

  • Reading and responding to your application.
  • Preparing for, delivering, and following up on your session.
  • Writing your plan and summary.
  • Improving the service in general terms — patterns, not your particular story.

It is not used for advertising, and it is not sold, rented, or traded.

Who processes it

Colt, and the service providers needed to run the website and deliver the service. Each sees only what it needs to do its job, and each has its own terms.

  • Hostinger — hosts the website and the business email account. Ordinary server logs and your emails to and from Colt sit there.
  • Formspree — receives the application when you press send and forwards it to Colt by email. Formspree runs an automated spam check on the submission before delivering it; no person at Formspree reads your application as part of that. Formspree stores submissions in the United States, encrypted, and on the plan used here their copy drops off after about 30 days. Colt's own copy stays in his mailbox until it is deleted under the schedule below.

A payment processor, a scheduling tool, and an email provider will be needed as the business grows. None of those has been chosen yet, so none is named here. This page will name each one before it handles anything of yours.

Beyond that, your information is not sold, rented, traded, used for unrelated advertising, or disclosed to unrelated third parties. The only other circumstances in which it would be disclosed are the ones described under confidentiality below, or where the law requires it.

The limits of confidentiality

Two things to be straight about, because implying more would be worse than saying it plainly:

  • Colt is a coach, not a licensed clinician. Legal confidentiality privilege does not apply to what you tell him. Conversations here do not carry the protections that a licensed therapist's or a lawyer's do.
  • If Colt believes someone is in immediate danger — you, your wife, or a child — he may act on that, including by contacting emergency services. That is a statement of what he may do, not a promise to do it, and not a service you are being offered. He is not watching for emergencies and cannot be relied on to notice one.

Marriage Crisis Plan does not monitor this website, does not watch for emergencies, and cannot respond to one. If you are in danger, use the numbers on the resources page.

How long it is kept

The general rule is to keep less, and to keep it for less time. Nothing here is a legal minimum; these are the periods this business has chosen.

WhatHow long
Applications that are declined, withdrawn, or never lead to payment — and the emails about them90 days after the decision, then deleted
Intake answers and session notes for a paying client12 months
The written plan and summary sent to a client3 years
Ordinary correspondence12 months
Payment, tax, refund and dispute records4 years
Card numbers and security codesNever stored, at any point
Email subscribersFor as long as you stay subscribed
A record that you unsubscribedKept, minimally, so you are not emailed again

Getting a copy, a correction, or a deletion

Email colt@marriagecrisisplan.com and ask. You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for something to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Colt will do it and will confirm when it is done.

Two things cannot be deleted on request, and it is better to say so than to promise otherwise. If you paid, the record of that payment is kept as a business and tax record. If a payment dispute is open, the file supporting it is kept until the dispute closes. Everything else goes.

Emails you may or may not receive

Applying and subscribing are two different things, and this site treats them that way.

  • Applying does not sign you up for anything. Submitting an application is not consent to a promotional email sequence.
  • Operational emails still come either way — about your own application, your payment, your appointment, and the service you bought. Those are part of doing business with you.
  • Marketing emails only if you ticked the box. The optional checkbox on the application is unchecked by default. Leaving it unchecked has no effect on whether you are accepted.
  • Unsubscribe any time, from a link in every marketing email or by emailing Colt. You will be removed promptly and a minimal record kept so you are not added back.
  • Asking to have your application information deleted does not automatically cancel a subscription you separately asked for, and unsubscribing does not delete your application information. Ask for whichever you want, or both.

Cookies, analytics, and outside connections

This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no advertising pixels. No analytics service is installed at present. If one is added, this page will say which, what it collects, and how to opt out — and application answers will not be sent to it.

The site loads no fonts, scripts, or images from any outside company. Everything it needs is served from this website. Nothing on these pages contacts a third party until you press submit on the application, which sends it to Formspree.

Children

This service is for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18.

If you are outside the United States

Marriage Crisis Plan operates from Louisiana, in the United States, and all information is stored and handled there. Privacy law in the United States is different from, and in most respects weaker than, the law in the UK, the EU, and several other countries. If you apply from outside the US, you are choosing to send your information to the United States on that basis.

Whatever country you are in, the rights described above are offered to everyone: ask for a copy, ask for a correction, ask for deletion.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.

This is a plain-language statement written by the business owner, not by a lawyer, and it is not legal advice. If anything here matters to you, ask before you apply.
